1. I’ve come to realize that my last kiss . . .
. . . will truly be the last one for an indeterminate period of time. And that’s just fine with me.
2. I am listening to watching . . .
. . . The Fashion Show on Bravo. It’s the alternative to Project Runway. I’ve always been a fan of Isaac Mizrahi.
3. I talk . . .
. . . too fast and am notorious with court reporters who inevitably end up telling me to slow down when their fingers either burst into flame or go completely numb from trying to keep up with me. Early on in my legal career, I learned to keep an eye on the court reporter and if he/she looks like he/she is struggling to keep up, I make a conscious effort to slow down. I usually tell the court reporter at the outset about my tendency, that I will watch them for signals, and to feel comfortable verbally reminding me to slow down, if necessary.
4. I love . . .
. . . my two boys more than anything or anyone. Unonditionally. They continue to regularly make me proud — in big and small ways. They are the reason I get out of bed every morning.
5. My best friends . . .
. . . are people I have known for at least thirty years and yet I have surprised several of them with recent revelations. There are certain things in one’s life that you don’t talk to anyone about — not even your best friends — until the time is right . . . for myriad reasons.
6. My first real kiss . . .
. . . was shocking.
7. Love is . . .
. . . ubiquitous.
8. Marriage is . . .
. . . not for everyone. I believe that we do our children a huge disservice if we don’t teach them that and allow them to grow, explore, and make a choice that is appropriate for them and will make them fully happy in their adult lives.
9. Somewhere, someone is thinking . . .
. . . I wish my parents — primarily, my mother — had told me that I should not feel obligated to marry in order to be perceived as “normal” and accepted by other people and society, in general. I wish I had learned earlier in my life that being alone is perfectly fine, so long as that is what makes me happy.
10. I’ll always . . .
. . . have an emotional attachment to the home in which I live and will not sell it, but, for a variety of reasons, it is time for me to live somewhere else. So I am house shopping.
11. The last time I really cried was because . . .
. . . I felt trapped.
12. My mobile phone . . .
. . . is an iPhone 3G. And now I want an iPhone 3GS, of course. Here’s an interesting article about the new model: Seven Things You Need to Know About iPhone 3GS.
13. When I wake up in the morning . . .
. . . my first thought is always one of gratitude for my eyesight.
14. Before I go to bed . . .
. . . I take Zyrtec. If I forget, I will itch from my scalp to the bottom of my feet within less than 24 hours.
15. Right now I am thinking about . . .
. . . all the things that I want to accomplish today.
16. Babies are . . .
. . . a beautiful memory. In fact, this photo was taken 22 years ago today — Father’s Day — immediately following the worship service during which my oldest was baptized at the age of three months. Grandma Siess (Mercy) is standing next to my parents. Note how proudly my father held his second grandson. That photograph was taken on the very spot where I am sitting as I type this — right here in the corner of the living room in the Hickok Homestead where my desk sits now.
17. I get on MySpace . . .
. . . rarely. I created a page a few years ago when it was the big rage, but I never developed it and I haven’t logged on in ages. Can’t remember the last time. I wasn’t at all surprised when I heard a news report recently that Facebook is more popular.
18. Today I . . .
. . . have a long list of things I need to do, including laundry, a workout in the pool, and practicing my piccolo.
19. Tomorrow I will be . . .
. . . out of town on business.
20. I really want to be . . .
. . . finished with the whole home buying process and calling the movers as quickly as possible. Alas, it doesn’t work that way. It’s a slow process, as it should be, but it is exhausting and consuming.

You always do justice to these memes with thoughtful responses. I hope you are OK. I’m feeling a sad kinda vibe. I just realized I said “do justice” to a lawyer. Ha!
(I know. I’m easily amused.)
I hope your house woes end soon.
